Are you hungry for a good paragraph??? The students from Team Independence are! Today in writing, the students viewed a flip chart that reviewed the parts of a paragraph. We talked about how not only do we need the bun (topic sentence and conclusion sentence) to hold everything together, but we need some ingredients to make the burger more appetizing. The meat, cheese, lettuce, and ketchup represent all the juicy details we can add to our paragraph. After viewing a video about Jonathan's soccer game, the students were asked to create a "juicy" paragraph detailing what happened.

Afterwards, we brainstormed words to creatively fill our acrostic poem on freedom. With the 10th anniversary of September 11 on Sunday, we wanted to pay homage to the fallen men and women. We are looking forward to you seeing our displays when you visit during Open House next week!

The rain made it a cozy school day! We are starting to get into the groove with our classes and schedule.
In Language Arts today, we discovered that some words can clue us into sequencing. By using these words, our text can become easier to understand. We also received our first spelling list and stared our daily edit on the Promethean Board.
In Math, we searched for answers in our Math book through a scavenger hunt! We have a lot to look forward to this year.
