September 24

This morning Team Coral Sea was fortunate to be visited by Mrs. Dombrowski's brother who climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro last year.  We enjoyed the pictures and the stories of his journey up the mountain.

He also works for UPS, and he discussed the logistics involved in preparing London for the Olympics.  A special thanks to him for the presentation, and for the Olympic pins that he gave us!

This week's spelling list is from "Teammates."

In Math, our focus has been on place value concepts, estimating sums and differences and also an introduction to exponents.  We will begin evaluating expressions using the order of operations this week.  In Science, we've explored the concept of plate tectonics and we will be moving on to investigations of the rock cycle.

In Reading, we are learning about sequence by reading "Tony and the Snark." In Writing, we have created a persuasive essay describing qualities that would make us good class presidents.  Look above our doors to see the political pins we have made when you visit for open house!
